Peek In The Drawer

Evening! Had another tough awakening this morning… I overslept and only had time to run a mile on the treadmill.  Better than nothing though, right?  It stopped raining so hopefully that’ll make it a little easier to get up and run six miles before work tomorrow, although it’s also supposed to snow.  Winter, it’s time to go!

Breakfast was a little different than usual this morning.

  • 1/2 cup oats cooked in 1/2 cup water
  • pumpkin
  • 1/2 banana
  • cottage cheese
  • 1 T Mararnatha No Stir Smooth Peanut Butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Stevia

This held me over pretty well (no loud tummy growling) without leaving me feeling stuffed, which usually happens.

In my lunchbag I packed an apple, orange, peach yogurt, and salad with spinach, beets tomatoes, beets, dried cranberries, feta, tempeh, Goddess + Vidalia Onion dressings.

Somehow I found myself at the office candy bowl and pulled out a Caramel Apple lollypop.  Remember these?

Danielle made lemon poppyseed muffins last night and brought one in for me.  Oddly enough I was just thinking of making these myself!

In case I ever run out of snacks at work, all I have to do is open up my desk drawer!  I keep nutrition bars, packets of nut butter, and whatever samples I have lying around.  I also keep silverware so I don’t have to keep throwing away plastic utensils, health items like Band-Aids, ibuprofen, Wet Ones, Diva Drops (I think that’s what they’re called… these changed my life! I can finally wear high heels comfortably), and a shot of Red Bull (in case I need an emergency boost).  What do you keep in your desk or purse?  Do you carry emergency snacks?

I’ve successfully gone without doing a major grocery shop this week, and I’ll probably be able to make it until Sunday!  I had a smorgasboard dinner; an open faced sandwich with tempeh bacon, cheddar & asiago cheese, Ten Minute Vegetable Soup, and sauerkraut.

For dessert, I had a bowl of The Lite Choice‘s Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge soft serve that I had in the freezer.  I was shocked how soft it was!  All I did was let it thaw for about 10 minutes before eating.

Back to Wall Street!  Check in tomorrow for a giveaway! It’s  good one :-)

  • Those caramel apple suckers used to be THE sucker to have in school! Loved those! I always have an emergency snack on me just incase. Better safe than sorry! I love the silverware though – never know when you might need those :)

  • Ana

I don’t carry any emergency snacks but that’s only because I have no self-control. When I know I have a yummy snacks in my bag/drawer I will eat it regardless whether I am hungry or not!

  • omg my bf always has a stash of carmel apple pops on hand at his apt!! THey are seriously the best candy ever!!

I need to try Mararnatha pb/ab sometime for sure

  • I always make sure to have a snack or two with me at all times. I’m totally that girl who is constantly whipping out pretzels, Luna bars, apples, and whatever else in class. I just can’t focus when my tummy’s growling and sometimes I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it home before I get hungry enough to gnaw off a limb.

  • i love the variety in your desk! i don’t have a desk…but i do have a field bag that is always stashed up with bars!!!

  • ugh. new york is going to be GA-ROSS this weekend. not even cool at all. hope you get your run in tomorrow morning!!

my handbag is filled to the brim with snacks haha i’ve got kays and almonds and kids z bars and i probably even have a dairy farm in there for instant cottage cheese..

  • I used to have the most out of control snack stash in my desk, but I finally resolved to eat the stuff before I was allowed to buy more, and today I actually found myself with NOTHING to snack on! GASP. Methinks I let it go too far…

  • Love your drawer shot..you are certainly prepared! I usually have a few snacks in my purse for emergencies which for Maya is every single day. I think my purse is completely empty right now except for Altoids. :)

  • Mad props to you for going the whole week using whatcha got on hand. I have such a snack stash its ridiculous. All my bars are in a big bag, and I shake it up in the morning and whatever I have that day is a surprise haha

  • It’s time for me to restock my office drawer. I have AB, granola bars and some apples for the week in mine. Emergency snacks are a must!

  • Yum! You and I always have a lot of the same eats going on!!! I also had a similar breakfast, I LOVE those Caramel Apple lollipops and I’ve been craving a poppyseed muffin!!! Can you just move to L.A. and be my real-life friend and we can just eat the same things all the time? Pretty please?

  • i am proud of you for still running!!!

  • Katie you do far better than me in the morning! A mile just isn’t happening!

I keep a lot of stuff in my purse… mainly essentials… but I never go anywhere without a bottle of Poland Spring. :)

  • Love your snack drawer! I keep a bunch of stuff in my purse- so annoying when I am out, rushing around, and need to eat since the snacks here are usually candy or stuff like special-k bars. I keep a couple mini Lara bars and a protein bar in my bag. And tea bags! Haha :D

Left you an award on my blog ;)

  • Beeeeeeets. I love it! Yummy salad.

  • I feel like I haven’t seen one of those caramel apple suckers in forever!

LOVE the combo of beets with feta. Yum!

  • Once the weather warms up a bit more I’d like to run outside just for a mile or two in the morning. It helps me wake up better than any caffeinated beverage!

  • Love your drawer — I should show mine, except that it’s kind of embarrassing! ;)

That lemon poppy muffin reminded me why I have poppy seeds in my kitchen — I found it yesterday and couldn’t figure it out, since I hate poppy seeds! But I guess I need to make some lemon poppy muffins now…
