It's Never Too Late

Morning and happy weekend! I hope you’re out sledding or playing in the snow.  It seems like this storm swept all across the country! We’ve been up but have yet to go outside; it’s a cleaning day at LVP headquarters.  The closet was a good start, but there’s still a lot of work to be done.  Most of the clutter comes from magazine and newspaper clippings for recipes and workouts.  Recently I’ve started going through old magazines and making meals I thought looked great when I first saw them years ago, so now I can finally throw a few things out.  What piles up fastest in your household?

Somehow my breakfast photo was deleted from the camera, but I had a bowl of Kashi GoLean, Kaia’s Cocoa Bliss Buckwheat Granola, warmed frozen berries and skim milk.

It was tough for everyone in the office to get to work; a lot of people who have long commutes didn’t even make it in at all! The roads were really bad.  I snacked on the usual suspects (orange + apple):

For lunch I had a spinach salad with beets, tempeh, shredded carrots, grape tomatoes and a mix of Raspberry and Vidalia Onion viniagrettes; I also had a cup of lemon yogurt.

We ended up closing the office around 3, which was a nice surprise for everyone.  Before I left, I snacked on a Teriyaki Primal Strip.

Ari was close by, so we met up and went to see The Crazies.  I was shocked Ari wanted to see this; he HATES scary movies, and the only way I can even get him to watch a thriller is by telling him it’s a “drama”!  (Probably shouldn’t give away that secret…) The movie was pretty bad… we both gave it a 4/10.  It’s a remake of a 1973 horror movie and we were expecting it to be “good camp,” but… there really wasn’t anything redeeming about it (except the very fact of going to see a movie, which has become quite rare).

In the theater I snacked on a Raspberry Clif C bar (photo taken on the floor, sorry for the poor quality); it was good, but I liked the blueberry flavor better.

After the movie, we headed to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse for a belated birthday celebration (Ari’s birthday was in November).  I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned it before, but the boy loves his steak.  One day I’m going to learn how to cook it (without having to taste it first) and win the girlfriend-of-the-year award.

We started with warm bread

…and a Jack on the Rocks for me, Jameson for Ari.

I ordered grilled salmon with roasted vegetables, hold-the-butter. This was a pretty large portion, so I boxed up the rest to take home.

Ari ordered a NY Strip Steak, which arrived to our table sizzling.

We split a side of sautéed mushrooms (leaving the half inch of butter behind).

When we got home I made us each peanut butter cups, which we ate in bed while watching Bill Maher.  Ari wanted milk chocolate and peanut butter; I made mine with dark chocolate and chocolate hazelnut butter.  Mmm!

It’s never too late to celebrate a birthday!

P.S.  It’s also never too late to enter BlueEyedHeart’s one year giveaway!

  • I think the fact that you made your boy pb cups nominates you for girlfriend of the year fosho. Steak be damned!

Loving the BEETS on that salad!

  • Awh, you two sound so adorable! I can’t wait to be able to live with the love of my life and best friend. :)

  • My husband loves Ruth Chris but I never want to go because they drown everything in butter! I might need to give it another try though because the salmon looks great.

  • Oh, how I love Ruth’s Chris. I love the sizzling steaks. Of course, I realize they sizzle because they’re covered in butter, but they are so, so good. I guess, upon finishing one of those steaks, my arteries probably begin sizzling as well.

  • I have always been scared to attempt cooking steak for someone- it’s such a personal thing. Same reason I won’t let people make my coffee for me when I am craving *my* coffee, lol. I think the fact that you make PB cups more than makes up for it…though I could be biased since I would take PB cups over red meat anyday :P

I can’t believe how much snow you guys have gotten! I am *so* ready for Spring!

    Enjoy your weekend :)

  • It’s kind of fun to celebrate something long after it actually happened. That way you don’t forget about it, and who doesn’t love an excuse to go to a nice dinner?

Have a great weekend with all of this snow!

  • Sounds like ya’ll got hammered by the weather! I hope you stay warm and safe!! A Cliff C bar?? I’ve never heard of such a thing- I want one! Going to keep an eye out. Great din din. Hope you have a good weekend <3!

  • I actually thought the crazies was a decent horror flick. But maybe I’m just into Timothy Olyphant.

  • Of course it’s never too late to celebrate a birthday… we went out for my sixteenth birthday so near my dad’s birthday that we just called it a joint celebration! FYI: my dad’s birthday is in January. Mine is in August.

    <3 <3

  • I’ve only been to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse once before (for my boyfriend’s birthday), and even though it was expensive, it was amazing! I got the grilled sea bass and it was the best fish I had ever eaten.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing The Crazies. It’s been getting a lot of mixed reviews on Twitter, but I think I’ll still enjoy it! The previews at least made me jump when I saw them in the theater.

  • Ruth’s Chris is amazing and I LOVE their side of mushrooms, seriously I could just get 3 orders of that for dinner!! lol!!!

I just love the movie name ‘The Crazies’ some people I have met in my life come into my mind when I say that, lots of crazies, lol!!!

Love you girl!! Glad you had a great weekend!!!!!!!!! xoxo
