A few weeks ago, Cheribundi contacted me about reviewing their line of cherry juice for the blog. A girl after my dad’s heart, I just couldn’t say no.

The tart cherries that go into each bottle of Cheribundi are packaged at CherryPharm and grown by farmers in either New York or Michigan to manage the company’s carbon footprint.

The bottles are made of BPA free, PET plastic made from post-consumer waste. Everything is 100% recyclable.

Here’s the Cheribundi story:
Sometimes it takes regular people to stumble upon a really good thing. That’s how cheribundi™ was created: snacking on Montmorency tart cherries eased a regular person’s back pain. This anecdotal cure was researched by food scientists at Cornell University who not only uncovered the benefits of tart cherries, but also developed a proprietary juicing process so all the cherry-goodness and nutrients could be delivered in a great tasting juice.
Whether you’re trying to stay active and healthy or win a triathlon, this juice made from America’s Superfruit™ will give you benefits exclusive to the round little fruit. Drink daily any one of our three varieties (Tru Cherry™, Skinny Cherry™ or Whey Cherry™) and you’ll find yourself living life to the fullest, feeling on top of your game and giggling at our funny name – every day.

What’s inside a bottle of Cheribundi?
Fifty Cherries: Our Tru Cherry™ juice packs fifty cherries into a short 8oz bottle. (We know because we counted them.) From there we add just enough water and apple juice to make it palate-perfect. Of course, to create the benefits of Skinny Cherry™ we decrease the cherries slightly and sweeten with natural Stevia. To get the benefits of Whey Cherry™ into a bottle, we add whey protein.
Freshness:The word “concentrate” isn’t in our vocabulary. Our juice is freshly made with America’s Superfruit™ grown in Michigan and New York. Other juices are made from concentrate once a year and then stored before you even get to drink them. Not cheribundi™, though. That’s why it tastes so darn fresh.
Phytonutrients: These are the building blocks in fruits and vegetables, so they’re good for you. They help plants grow and regenerate cells properly and they just may help regulate physiological functions in human, too. Cherries have a powerful combination of these nutrients, which provides more benefits than any other fruit or other good-for-you foods like tea, wine and other juices. Whether you’re looking for anthocyanins, melatonin, phenolic acids, flavanoids/flavonols/flavanols (however you say or spell them), science is starting to show that many of these phytonutrients may have special properties. Some may reduce oxidative stress and fight free radicals while others may act like anti-inflammatories and yet others may hold a promise for better heart health. Of course, all the claims in the world wouldn’t be as convincing as if you tried our juice and experienced the benefits for yourself!
Vitamins and Minerals: Your mom was right, you need vitamins and minerals. But not because she said so. You need them because they are the foundation to a strong immune system and enhance metabolic processes. In cheribundi™ you’ll find Vitamin A, Potassium, Iron, Calcium and, in Whey Cherry™, muscle-growing B-Vitamins!
High ORAC Rating: The Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity rating for cheribundi™ is higher than other juices – that means our juice has a better ability to absorb and neutralize free radicals. Whether you’re exercising or resting, cheribundi™ is working hard for you!
I was sent three types of juice to try: Tru Cherry, Skinny Cherry, and Whey Cherry.

Tru Cherry
- 50 cherries, 2 servings of fruit
- Nutritional info
Not too sweet, not too tart. Has that perfect “tea” taste you get from dried and frozen cherries.

Skinny Cherry
- 40 cherries, sweetened with stevia
- Nutritional info
Not as strong as Tru Cherry; I can tell it’s been watered down and is only 65% juice. It’s still good, but I prefer the Tru.
Whey Cherry
- 45 cherries, 8g whey protein
- Nutritional info
This was the most intriguing to me! I’d never had juice mixed with protein powder before, and I love that it doesn’t have a chalky texture. It’s a little thick, which was slightly off-putting at first, but it tastes a lot like the Tru Cherry. I don’t usually drink protein beverages, but I liked this.
Would I buy these? Probably. I like that they cherries are sourced domestically and the ingredient lists are kept short and sweet. I don’t drink a lot of juice, but I enjoyed a little bit of this each morning with my vitamins. I also made Ari a Tru Cherry + shochu + coconut milk cocktail that was quite good!

What’s your favorite kind of juice? Do you like tart, sweet, or vegetable?

Interesting product. My mom is a huge fan of cherries, so I will have to let her know about it.
no u definitely wouldnt want to say no to cherry juice! i dont drink juice but if i do i prefer tart.. cherry is really good, same with cranberry
I am really not a juice lover, I prefer eating the real fruit. But simply orange is pretty tasty
That sounds really good – is it anything like cranberry juice?
I love mango juice and pineapple juice, but I don’t drink either one very often. When I do have tropical juices, it’s a real treat.
I got the Cheri too. I may or may not have given it to Scott. He liked it.
Glad you made more Pb cups for Ari per the last post. You are so good to him
He better take good care of you!
have a super weekend Katie!
I’m a HUGE fan of cherries, so I bet I would enjoy these. As for my favorite juice, nothing beats freshly squeezed OJ.
At first when I hear cherry juice, I would think it’s artificially flavored. that’s awesome that they actually pack real cherries in there.
MMMM, cherry juice?!?! Sounds like a great addition to a cocktail if you ask me!
It looks good, but I find it hypocritical that they’re saying in their story that “the word concentrate is not in our vocabulary” when it is part of the ingredient list (apple juice concentrate) for TruCherry.
Good review! I’ve been seeing these around lately. I’ve never had cherry juice, but these sound very tasty!
I’m not much of a juice person but when I actually do feel like drinking it I always go for the white grape or apple types.
This does look good but I’m not a crazy fan of cherries!
YUM, I love cherries and try to drink the juice for the ant-inflammatory effects. Sounds like my kind of brand too considering I live in michigan now but am a new yorker…
i’ve heard such good things about tart cherries and their anti-inflammatory properties and with marathon training coming up, i think i need to get on that! cherries always remind me of summer…whenever my fam went on vacation we’d stock up on cherries and eat them on the beach, burying the pits in the sand
What a cool beverage. I totally want to try the protein variety. I don’t drink a lot of juice, but enjoy POM every now and again
sounds good! I have never heard of this brand before!
I think I’ll keep it old school and say apple although I am not much of a juice drinker overall.
even the box has cute print on it. my favorite juice is the yet-to-be-extracted juice in whole fruits. I don’t like liquids as much as eating the real thing
Katherine
I cannot wait to study more of this fine topic. So much than me Ive never even thought of. You sure did put an innovative twist on something that Ive heard a lot of about. I dont believe Ive actually read most things does this subject nearly as good justice as you basically did.
Wonderful blog! I found it while searching on Yahoo News. Do you have any tips on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Appreciate it
