I recently received a fun package from ZonePerfect, a nutrition company that recently launched a new line of bars based on flavors of cookie dough.

Their marketing team is genius! I love the ceramic cookie jar, chocolate chip swing-tag, and wrapper-shaped flash drive. I was immediately excited about trying them out. I admit it: I’m a sucker for packaging!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

This does taste exactly like cookie dough! It’s not as “natural”- at all- as Larabar’s version (or my homemade “Laraballs”), but it is also lower in fat and higher in protein. Get nutrition stats here.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Dough

I could definitely taste the cinnamon and raisins! Unfortunately it was a bit too sweet for my taste, and left an aftertaste I didn’t quite care for. Get nutrition stats here.

Peanut Butter Cookie Dough

I like that these are all really chewy! I like the nutty chunks. It’s a little sweet, but not unbearably so. Get nutrition stats here.

In order of preference:

  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

  • Peanut Butter Cookie Dough

  • Cinnamon Raisin Cookie Dough

BOTTOM LINE

Pros: I’m always looking for quick and easy ways to fuel up at work, and nutrition bars are certainly convenient ways to do it. You can get more ideas here! I also love cookies, so the cookie dough concept really piqued my interest. I also am always looking for ways to get more protein, and I liked that each of these had 10g.

Cons: The ingredient list is about a mile long, and many ingredients are some incarnation or other of sugar. The very first ingredient on all three bars are either brown rice syrup or corn syrup!

Would I buy these? I’ve seen ZonePerfect bars in drugstores, airports and gas stations, all places I usually find myself desperate for a somewhat healthy snack. Again, I don’t love the ingredient list, but these bars would be good in a pinch.

Thanks again, ZonePerfect! I’ve already put the cookie jar to good use :-)

What’s your dream cookie flavor to turn into nutrition bar-form?

I would probably faint if a company came out with a macaroon nutrition bar.

I can’t wait to try these – especially if it really tastes like cookie dough ;)

  • I really like the ceramic jar they sent you…that’s so cool! I think the chocoalte chip cookie dough flavor sounds really good!

  • I agree, that is some adorable marketing! My favorite cookie is the snickerdoodle, but i’d rather it just remain a cookie – no nutrition bar. I just can’t picture it!

  • I LOVE that USB drive!!!! What a great idea. :)

I’ve never tried a Zone bar but any bar that tastes like a candy bar is one I know I’m sure to love.

  • Ah! Cute cookie jar! I’ve never tried Zone Perfect bars, so thanks for the info. I need a jar for myself to stash all my various bars I’ve accumulated recently.

  • The packaging is adorable! It’s too bad the ingredient list is so long–it’s hard to beat LaraBars in the simplicity department when it comes to ingredient lists :)

Best cookie I’ve had recently was definitely a vegan Rocky Road cookie. I doubt there’s anyway we could convert it into a healthy “energy bar” though (even in all its vegan glory, it was still loaded with white and dark chocolate chips!)

Yum, those bars look delicious! I can’t wait until I see them in stores.

  • haha i love that they sent you them in a cookie jar! so cute :) i think i would be all about the oatmeal raisin cookie dough bar but i don’t think i’d say no to any of them honestly haha
