Ladies Night

What happens when four girls get together on a saturday night?

Oh, I should probably add that these are four food blogging girls. Our friend Anna is visiting for the weekend, so she, Leslie, Sofia and I all met for dinner at The Smith. I used to work right around the block from the restaurant and had probably passed it a hundred times.

After settling in with our carafe of Malbec, we began the slow, sensual ritual of a dinner out. Because sharing a meal is an intimate, romantic experience, whether the person across from you is your mother, your lover, or your very best friend. The evening unfolded quietly at first, and began to get more and more vibrant as our we exclaimed enthusiastically about Brussels sprouts and city living and life after college.

Anna had never been to Stogo, so after sampling a handful of flavors each, we shared a bench inside the store as we licked every last drop of ice cream from our spoons.

We weren’t quite ready to part ways, so we headed East a few blocks to Terroir, a new-to-me wine bar but a favorite of Leslie’s and Sofia’s. The list is extensive, and you can choose to have either a 3-oz pour or a full glass. I chose a taste of German white.

Ari happened to be in the neighborhood, so he picked me up and said hi to the girls. (And played a little with the magnet board… he wrote the bottom phrase.)

On our way home, we happened upon The Redhead, a gastropub and bar I’ve been meaning to try for some time now.

They have a really interesting cocktail list, so I tried the Revival, was made with gin, triple sec, and lemon juice.

And then, then, we took our old selves home. And what does this food blogger do in the morning when she wakes up, slightly groggy from her night on the town?

She swills carrot juice, straight from the bottle, and heads out on a run before work. It’s all about balance, right?
