Morning! How are you? I’m a little tired, if I do say so myself. It’s my first day of summer school and my pre-calculus class starts at 8 AM! Must get myself onto an earlier schedule…
Must also say sayonara to morning workouts, because I just don’t have it in me right now to get up at 5 and go to the gym. Yesterday, though, I had time to go before work! 30 minutes on the CrossRamp + abs, and then I skedaddled over to the restaurant.
What I Wore:

Skirt: Torn by Ronny Kim
Tank: H&M
Belt: J. Crew
When I got to work, my friends and I were greeted with two fun facts: we had two large parties about to walk in, and we had no set-ups (napkins, cutlery, etc.). So we spent the first hour in a frenzy, folding napkins and scrounging for forks.

It was pretty much stressful craziness for the next few hours. I ended up having to eat my breakfast after the restaurant opened, at my post at the hostess stand!

- goat’s milk yogurt
- 1/2 banana
- Ambrosial Granola
- Trader Joe’s Oat n Wheat Bran Swirls
- sunflower butter
Because of the labor laws, I usually have to take a 30 minute break just half an hour after I get to work, but because we were so busy, I had to take it later. This worked out better for me, actually, because I had time to actually chew my food and didn’t need to inhale my lunch. My very green lunch, I should say.

- Crispin apple
- steamed & sautéed garlic broccoli
- Sesame Ginger Kale Salad <— added tamarind, which added a subtle tea flavor
Ari picked me up from work, and we went out on a date. We’ve been on opposite schedules lately, and aside from the wedding, we haven’t really had a chance to spend time together in a couple weeks. So we went with a classic date night option: dinner + a movie! We wanted to see Bridesmaids but the showing was too late, so instead we saw The Hangover: Part II. We both really liked the first one, and while the sequel’s plot was pretty much the same, it was still enjoyable and entertaining.
After the movie, we went for dinner at Arepas Cafe, a Venezuelan restaurant specializing in arepas: corn cakes filled with all kinds of toppings. Arepas always make me think of Coney Island and Angharad!
I ordered the Veggie, which was stuffed with black beans, avocado, plantains, and cheese (which I added myself).

Ari got the Shrimp, which was grilled with cilantro.

We also had wine, which is what I hear one does on a date
. It was a really cute place and a simple but delicious meal. We’ll definitely be going back!

After dinner, we went home to watch a little Parenthood and eat dessert (ice cream, biscotti, chocolate sauce + cinnamon for me).

All in all, a date well-done!
What do you like to do on dates? Any out-of-the-box ideas I should try?

You look so beautiful in that outfit! Glad you had fun on your date
DC has TONS of parks all throughout the city, so I love taking a walk around one of them and then finding a cute restaurant to eat at. Although, one of the most fun dates I had been on was spending the day going to fancy grocery stores all day. We didn’t buy anything; we just ogled at the fancy ingredients!
I love date nights
good for you two that you were able to enjoy one together! cute outfit, btw! super schmexy!
haha.
those oatbran swirls are just another saddening item on my envious list of TJ’s goodies.
xoxo.
Phew! Work sounds like craziness! Glad you had time to actually enjoy your lunch!! <3 date nights. Dinner and a movie is always fun- we've been planning to see Hangover two. Both arepas sound yummy- but I want those shrimp! On date nights, we usually do frozen yogurt, dinner, movies, cook together at home, mini golf (on rare occasion- but I love it), shopping, etc
Those corn cakes look amazing, I wouldn’t even know which to get, they both are so tempting!
Date night: Empire State Building for sunset; walk through Central Park; walk through R-side Park for dinner at one of the cafes and watch the sunset; Staten Island Ferry; walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and eat in Brooklyn; walk in Battery Park south from the w-side bike path; get last-minute rush/student tickets to a cultural event; baseball game in Staten Island or Brooklyn.
Me and my husband could really do with a date night! We tend to do the dinner and gig thing more often than not which is nice for something a little different
That cereal looked pretty good. Something about cold breakfast when it starts to get hot out.
Cute outfit also, You’ve def got the legs for a short skirt like that!
I can’t wait to go on regular “date nights”. The bf moves back to MN at the end of this month! The countdown is on! When he gets back I’m looking forward to movies, dinner, cooking together, biking and running together, attending wedding and family events together, plays, comedy shows, theater, everything!
LOVE your outfit!
Try ballroom dancing
More math?? I thought you were all done with that??
You look awesome in that outfit.
<3 <3
Eek, good luck with pre-calculus! I just took my final exam for it yesterday, and it was one of my hardest math classes ever! (of course, to me, ALL math is hard…)
You look awesome in that outfit!!
Sounds like a perfect date night to me
Date nights are always more special when you haven’t been able to spend as much time together. You look amazing in that little outfit too!
date night is so important! i love your skirt so much! it’s perfect for the start of summer!!
Dang girl! You are smoking!
Love date nights and so happy you enjoyed a good one with your man.
happy belated to your dad!
besides that your date with ari sounds so cutee
thanks for reminding me that summer classes officially start! haha its hard for me to remember because i’m taking an online one. but anyways! your workout is HOT! my friends wanna see hangover 2 on friday but iiii didn’t see #1 and i’m not sure i wanna spend the money on it! hmph..
Dorky Kippewa throwback: your mentioning of setting up for the party reminded me of the dreaded one day a week you’d have to “waitress” for your table. Remember? There were separate bugles and everything so you’d get there early, and you’d have to scrape all the leftovers into the plastic bowl at the end of the meal! Haha, I HATED waitress duty.
Smokin hot outfit!! Yowza woman! Lookin good!
I love fun dates like bowling, playing pool, renting a boat and trying new restaurants!
Awww I love date night. The boy and I are planning to go see Midnight in Paris this week since he’s off. Hope your first day of classes went well.
Also, those wheat swirl thingies are crazy looking but in the best way possible!
Sexy lady! Hott outfit:) So glad you had a date night, we LOVE our date nights and try to do them somewhat frequently!
You look so cute in your outfit! And date night is always good- glad you were able to fit it in! And those arepas look amazing! I’ve never heard of them but I think I need to find a Venezuelan restaurant soon!
Aww gosh, I miss my date nights.
I’ve been in a long distance relationship for a year with my 3 year boyfriend and it is such a paaaaaain. What we like to do on our Skype “dates” though is watch a movie or a TV show simultaneously together.
I think one of our best dates was when we had picnic out and brought my 4 year old nephew with us. We spent the afternoon playing frisbee and eating sandwiches and.. well, wiping dirt off of my nephew’s little feet.
