Good morning Minnesota! It feels good to be back in the land of 10,000 lakes. It was actually a little strange to drive from the airport and go straight to a hotel rather than my own apartment or to my grandparents’ house, but I love how many Minnesota experiences I’m racking up.
Before I left yesterday, I had a solid, stabilizing breakfast to help fuel me for the day ahead.

- Chobani Greek yogurt (pineapple)
- almond milk
- muesli
- almond butter
Once I got to the airport, my plane was delayed over an hour due to some kind of “spill.” Luckily I had the September issue of Vogue and some homemade trail mix (Incan berries, dark chocolate-covered berries, almonds) to hold me over.

On the plane, I had a Greek salad I picked up from the airport and a Journey bar. I was happy to see some healthy vegetarian options for sale on the concourse, although you have to be mindful of the cheese portions which tend to be more than generous.

After landing, a taxi took me to the hotel where I checked in. I have two beds for myself! Or, one bed for sleeping, and one for my clothes
.

I also got a fun Green Giant* goodie bag, including green Hunter boots to wear to the farm tomorrow! I’ve been wanting these wellies for so long, and I love the green.

I had a little time before dinner, so I headed downstairs to check out the fitness facility. There were a lot of cardio machines, a few free weights, and even a pool! Too bad I didn’t think to bring my bathing suit. I got a nice, sweaty run in before going upstairs to get ready for our dinner cruise.

We took a bus and headed to Wayzata where we all boarded the Isabella yacht.

It was a really nice boat. Great lighting and lots of windows to see the brewing storm!

Full bar! Absolut Pear + soda for me.

Dinner was served buffet-style.

I had salad, potatoes, bread, and pasta (specially made… I think I’m the only pescatarian on the trip!).

For dessert, we had fruit cups, brownie bites, and lemon squares. I was too busy chatting to get a photograph
.

Totally pooped after the day’s excitement (how old do I sound?) I hung out for a little while in the hotel lobby before going to bed. I feel nice and refreshed today, though, and I’m excited for the day ahead! Here’s what’s on the agenda:
- Breakfast
- Visit agricultural research facility
- Visit farm + picnic lunch
- Tasting (!)
- Museum tour
- Dinner at a local restaurant
Have you ever been on a dinner cruise? Or… a booze cruise?
*Green Giant will be paying for all costs- including room and board- while I’m covering the Valley Visit.

So fun so far! I have been on adinner cruise-a great treat. Enjoy the day! Get a pic of you in those cute boots!
Love your new Hunter boots, green is the best colour
They are now on my wish list as well! Have a fun trip!
ahhh hunter wellies are the best! nate bought me a pair in aubergine last christmas and i wear them ALL THE TIME! so helpful for rainy or snowy commutes in the city
i’ve done a dinner cruise before but it was kinda more an older crowd so i didn’t have as much fun than if it were people my age haha.
Haha. I went on a booze cruise when I was in Cancun years ago for my senior trip (I still have no idea why our parents let us go there!). We actually met some guys who lived a few hours away from us and I still keep in touch with them to this day! Random!!
fun! I’ve been on a cruise for a friend’s wedding that I was in. It was such a good choice, so beautiful and the breeze off of the St. Croix river was like heaven.
LOVE the hunter boots. So jealous!
SO jealous of your free Hunter boots! We did a booze cruise for my grandmother’s 85th birthday a few years back, which was a grand time.
Yes, I love boat cruises!
Hope you got my voicemail – I know you’re busy having fun
…sigh!…the booze cruise with its ‘lunchbox’ cocktail…I have a framed photo from it of you, me, Joe, and Jack Irvine. Makes me happy every time I see it
This whole experience sounds so interesting. Looking forward to reading what you’ve learned. Wonder if the wet weather has hurt the crops.
WHAT is this event that you got invited to! you are a fancy pants lady and i’m so jealous!
also i’m so glad you posted that picture of vogue because deej jenna and i were wondering who was on the cover of the sept issue! kate moss for the win, eh?
That is definitely the nicest fitness center I have ever seen in a hotel!!
What an awesome gift! I love the bag and am totally jealous of the green Hunters.
I’ve been on a few booze cruises on vacations and always have a blast, lol. I can’t wait to see how the rest of your trip goes!
Awesome! Sounds like a good time. I have done a dinner cruise before. I love boating, but the food on those things isn’t so good, at least from my experiences.
