Good morning! How are you all doing? Good week so far? A lot of people here had work/ school off due to the delay in public transit’s resumption… my school canceled class for the first half of the day, so I had another day to spend studying and relaxing. Not a bad life
.
Breakfast was cereal: Kashi GoLean with 1 donut peach, 1 plum, 1/2 banana, pecans, and almond milk. I have eaten this meal for the last four days and it still hasn’t gotten boring!

I went to the gym to take the first group fitness class I’ve participated in in years (yoga not included). I took a class called Club Fitness which, from my understanding, is a lot like Body Pump. You use a weighted bar and hand weights while you squat and lunge for about 80% of the class, and the rest is spent on stretching and abs. My muscles quivered during the exercises, and I can tell I’m going to be like j-e-l-l-y for a few days! It’s a good burn, though.
Easy lunch when I got home:

- Boston lettuce
- curried carrots
- baked tofu
- roasted Brussels sprouts
- almonds
- dried Incan berries
- olive oil/ pear vinegar/ sea salt/ pepper dressing
The rest of the afternoon was spent studying. Did you know, studying actually ramps up your metabolism? Whenever I’m studying I always get so hungry! It’s probably the stress and nervous eating habits, but I still believe that working your brain works your digestive system, too

toast with butter and nutritional yeast, Gala apple
For dinner, a few of us gathered at Leslie’s new digs to warm her house. Not that it needed much warmth… it had exposed bricks, an island kitchen… things a city girl usually can only dream of.

Speaking of Leslie, almost every photograph I have of her is in this pose, pouring olive oil or wine. Usually wine.

This was the first time Shayne and I really got to talking, too.

And Sofia… well, Sofia and I are new neighbors! So expect a few silly shenanigans to follow shortly.

While we awaited Rebecca’s arrival, we set out quite a scrumptious table.

I made this Cucumber Peanut Salad… I really loved it, but be warned: it’s spicy!

Leslie made a delicious salad with arugula, tomatoes, chickpeas, and sautéed eggplant.

Shayne made a cabbage slaw with radishes, carrots, and a tahini dill dressing.

We dined well, as can always be expected.

Rebecca brought pink champagne, but sadly I had to leave without sampling it. I did, however, enjoy three of Sofia’s pecan-current cookies
.

Blogging has brought a lot of fabulous things into my life, but I’m most appreciative that I’ve met so many wonderful women. It’s nice to have a group of supportive girls to have dinner and drink wine and girl talk with!

Has your job (or “job”) brought friends into your life? If you’re a lady, do you have a group of women you like to get together and cook/ gossip/ laugh with?

things i want more of:
1. you.
2. dawson’s creek.
3. cookies. always cookies.
OH HEYYYNOW, i’m getting those things! life is good.
Youre making me want to run out and get some donut peaches! What a fun get together-such great salads and friends. I have def met some amazing friends through blogging
Hey girl! I’m so glad you’re feeling better, a 101.4 fever is no bueno:( I’m also glad that you guys had a fun time last night, the NYC blogger community is so great. When do I get to see you???? I feel like we haven’t grabbed a bite in forever. Now that we are in the same ‘hood we have no excuses;)
love her apt! i’m still searching for my urban dwelling with exposed brick. i can’t complain though, i love my eco-friendly digs (bamboo, cork & sustainable cabinets etc). already back to the grind? hope this semester lacks math (i hate it too!)my job has not brought female friends (scientists are so anti social) but i’m making new friends at kickboxing class which is fun!
My running girls do that for me! I love our running get togethers and the things we talk about and the secrets we tell. It’s great having people like that in your life isn’t it
Every time you post about these get togethers it makes me want to start a dinner club or something. So fun!
So sad I missed this! Darn, Irene. Glad it was a successful night of potluck wining and dining though. See you later, lady who blogs.
So happy you have all these ladies and you all can get together for girl time. So important!!
I don’t have too many work friends. Luckily I have college buddies and neighborhood folk to hang out with. I’m loving that exposed brick in that home. Pretty!
i am definitely ok with most photographs of me consisting of wine being poured into a glass. one of my coworkers once told me that when she imagines me, she thinks of me with a wine glass in hand. again, i am totally ok with that.
i heart you and loved seeing you in high spirits last night. now the important question. when can we have a dawson’s creek marathon?
What a fun and delicious blogger meet up!
PS- That cereal combo sounds soooo freaking good! I want it now as a snack.
true story – back in 8th grade, i had a blog called “Dawson Creek Fan”. i posted photos, episode recaps, and fan fiction. i caught the blogging bug early i suppose, heh. unfortunately (fortunately?) i deleted the blog shortly before i started college – i was worried my classmates would find it! still love the show though
glad you ladies had a good time last night – i want to make your cucumber peanut salad!
these eats look like fall to me! (: i’m excited, personally. roasted brussels?! count me on board!
xo.
I was just telling Sofia how jealous I am of your meetups! FUN and DELICIOUS.
