How To Go Camping… At Home

When I was a sophmore in college, a few of my friends and I went camping in North Dakota over Fall Break, which took place over the weekend just before Halloween. This photo is one of the sole survivors of that weekend, but the moral of the story is this: late October is a very, very cold time to camp in the North.

That was the last time I camped out. Until this past weekend. And I didn’t even have to leave my apartment!

URBAN CAMPING, IN FOUR EASY STEPS

Step 1. Build a fort! You are never too old.

2. Make S’Mores. Your experience won’t be complete without them. And here’s a delicious innovation: use a peanut butter cup instead of plain ole chocolate. Holy moly.

3. Roast those marshmallows! A gas burner works just as well as any old campfire.

4. Build a fire. Actually, that’s a terrible idea, and you didn’t hear it from me! So instead, just watch one on YouTube while listening to music from your youth.

Have you ever gone camping? Where did you go, and what made it fun?

Have you ever… camped at HOME?
