Oh, what a lovely week it’s been so far. Still aglow from a weekend away, the past few days have been filled with good food and good company… I’m living a hard life right now, I know
.
1. Lunch at Ciano. Given two stars by Sam Sifton, my dad booked a table for the three of us at noon on Monday. They offer a year-round $20.11 prix-fixe lunch menu… a real steal. The restaurant is cozy, and just what you’d hope your rustic country villa in Italy to look like. Really, I’m won over by any semblance of a fireplace.

Big lunches feel so decadent! You know what else does? Red wine with lunch. Followed by a long, late-afternoon nap. Every once in a while, these things have to happen. I feasted on shaved vegetable salad, three-cheese raviolo in rosemary brown butter, and Valrhona hot chocolate with a malted marshmallow.

2. This 15 year old siren. On Monday night, I tagged along to a Fashion Week party at the Bowery Hotel as Caitlin’s plus-one, and all of the industry folk and I were completely blown away by her voice. Her cover of Bon Iver’s “Skinny Love” had us all in chills and shivers, and I saw quite a few wet eyes. Did I mention this girl wears braces?

3. Fancy mornings. My friend Howard invited me to the annual New York City Ballet fundraising luncheon last Tuesday. At 11:30, we were among a mere 200 people sitting in the David Koch theater for an intimate conversation and performance with and by the dancers. Pretty cool.

4. Valentine’s surprises. Apparently, someone remembered that handmade pasta is they key to my heart. So out came a pasta maker, and an evening making our own ravioli.

Sundried tomato ravioli stuffed with olives, asiago and butternut squash, to be exact.

And about that key…

Swoon.
5. Chobani winner! I’m pleased to announce the recipient of a flat of funky new Greek yogurt flavors is…

Sara, please send me your mailing address and we’ll get those out to you.
What’s on your 5 for Friday list? What are you up to this weekend?

My heart is happy for you! Valentines fun, plus HOMEMADE PASTA, WHAT? I have a pasta maker thingie like that and I haven’t used it in years, but it is so much fun. Plenty of work, but tons of fun. I was shopping at Sur La Table (awesome kitchen store) with my mom today and saw TONs of pasta making tools, like little ravioli cutters. I may have to make a purchase soon…
Homemade pasta is such a treat! The boy’s a keeper. Especially when he makes heart-shaped ravioli and a key to go alongside it.
Birdy is a new name for me, but I’m going to go check her album out right now. I’d love to add some fresh music to my repertoire!
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!
