About

Hello, and welcome to Lilveggiepatch! My name is Katie and I am 22 years old. I was born and raised in New York City, and after graduating from a small liberal arts college in the Midwest last May with degrees in English and French, I moved back to the City.

I began this blog in August 2008 right before my Senior year of college. I’ve had a passion for food and cooking pretty much since birth, and decided it was high time to join the food blogging community. This was also shortly after I decided, on a whim, that I was going to train for and run the Twin Cities Marathon in Minnesota. Having had no real experience with running, I quickly injured myself and was out of commission for three months. Now, a year later, I have completed five races (find the re-caps here), bounced back from a recurring injury, and am currently training for my second half marathon!  It’s hard to believe that less than a year ago, I had yet to run a 5K race. More important than racing and logging miles, however, is keeping my body healthy and strong, and with the nudge of a physical therapist a few months ago, I have begun to focus more on yoga, strength, and cross training to prevent future injuries.

I don’t like to use labels to categorize my eating habits, but for the sake of clarity will say that I have led a vegetarian/ pescatarian lifestyle for the past eight years. The majority of my family and friends are food enthusiasts, and I was lucky to have grown up with a palate for things like roasted Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, oatmeal and sushi. That being said, I enjoy a glass of wine every now and then, and almost never go to bed without dessert. After years of hating exercise and struggling to define my relationship with food, I’ve found that my body is most happy when it is active, fed wholesome and nourishing foods, and indulged a little. This is the only one I’ve got, and it deserves to be pampered!

I recently started a new job and am striving to find the right balance between work; spending time with my family, friends, and boyfriend Ari (who is the lead singer/songwriter/guitarist for The Upwelling); cooking and dabbling in various cuisines; reading and writing; and soaking up all of the culture that my city has to offer.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you again soon :-)

    Dear Katie,

Thank you so very much for the Scrumptious Cookies. I love each one, sampling just a bit from eash. Great to see you at Judy’s Bithday Night out. Food was terrific just like the compsny.
    Have happy Holidays, Anita
