			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p id="top" /><strong>This morning, after lying in bed for 1o minutes trying to wish Monday away and go back to <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2010/01/04/its-always-sunny-in-philadelphia/">vacation</a>-mode, I decided to start the new year on a good note.</strong> Why dread going to a job I love and am <em>supremely</em> lucky to have?  For one more hit of sleep and a guaranteed scramble to leave the house?  I think not!  Inspired and only a little groggy,  I pushed myself out of bed and fired up the stove.  It would be a great day, and great days start with breakfast.</p>
<p>Lately I&#8217;ve been admiring <a href="http://jesslikesithot.wordpress.com/">Jess</a> and <a href="http://www.thehealthyeverythingtarian.com/">Holly</a>&#8216;s breakfast pancakes, and couldn&#8217;t remember the last time I made one myself.</p>

<p>I used the KERF recipe for <a href="http://www.katheats.com/?page_id=289"><strong>Oatmeal Pancakes</strong></a>, adding both <em>mashed banana</em> and<em> pumpkin purée</em>.  If I&#8217;m making pancakes, I&#8217;m making <em>pancakes</em>.</p>

<p>I usually like to dip pancakes and French toast in syrup rather than drenching them before eating; this way they don&#8217;t get too sweet or soggy, and I don&#8217;t end up putting away the whole bottle.  This was so good! Much better than I remembered it being: filling but without leaving me feeling bloated and just decadent enough.</p>
<p>Since it was the first day in a few weeks that everyone would be back in the office, I got to work a little early to get myself organized so I&#8217;d have time to get a little &#8220;zen.&#8221;  It worked.  Although there was a lot to do, I was cool as a cucumber!</p>
<p>Around 11, I whipped out a <strong>juicy grapefruit.</strong></p>

<p>By the time I was ready to go to lunch, it was almost 1:30 and I was <em>starving</em>.  I had some errands to run so I took my lunch out of the office; luckily I&#8217;d had time to prepare a decent meal last night.  I had a <strong>big salad</strong> with<em> mixed greens, one Fugi apple, grape tomatoes, dried cheries, walnuts and Annie&#8217;s Lite Gingerly Vinaigrette</em>.</p>

<p>I also had a <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/10/13/my-name-is-katie-and-im-a-yog-a-holic-chobani-greek-yogurt-review/">Pineapple Chobani</a> (my favorite!).</p>

<p>Turns out my mom and I both got each other <a href="http://www.builtny.com/">Built</a> lunch bags for <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/12/27/happy-christmas-to-all-and-to-all-a-good-night/">Christmas</a>!  She&#8217;d read on the blog that I wanted one; I thought it would be motivating for her to bring her own lunch to work.  I&#8217;m going to embarrass my mother here and say that<strong> sometimes all she eats for lunch is trail mix! </strong> I love trail mix as much as <a href="http://caretoeat.net">this girl</a>, but you can&#8217;t go from 8 &#8211; 7 without a meal.  Hopefully this post will shame MVP into packing food.  I need some help!</p>
<p>While grocery shopping yesterday, I lingered at the organic bread booth and finally picked up this <a href="http://www.the-baker.com/products/details/european-baker-style-organics/sunflower-european-style/22"><strong>European-style sunflower seed bread</strong></a>.   I&#8217;ve eaten this kind of bread many times before (mostly in Europe) and always enjoy them, but for some reason never buy them for myself.  It&#8217;s very dense, nutty, hearty, and moist. I love it!</p>

<p>I ate a slice with <strong>cashew cheese</strong> around 4; I probably should have halved the recipe when I made it, but it&#8217;s still going strong!</p>

<p>Work was finished with promptly at 5, and I hurried home to catch <a href="http://myspace.com/theupwelling">Ari</a>.  He had some errands to run in the evening, but I wanted him to be able to have a nice dinner (instead of a slice of pizza on the go) before he left.  He&#8217;s leaving in a couple days and, with the risk of being corny, I really cherish every hour we have together.</p>
<p>Ari requested <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/11/10/my-knight-in-blue-adidas/"><strong>Tomatoey Spiced Chickpeas</strong></a>, which has become one of his favorite recipes.  Not all of cooking is quite to his taste, but he says this one is as good as a steak dinner.  (Trust me, the boy likes <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/08/07/roaaar/">his</a> <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2010/01/03/tour-belly-goes-to-dos-toros/">meat</a>!)  I&#8217;m by no means trying to &#8220;turn him vegetarian&#8221;, but it&#8217;s nice when we can share and enjoy some of the same foods.   I served it with <strong>Trader Joe&#8217;s Harvest Grains Blend</strong> (<em>Israeli couscous, baby garbanzos, red quinoa</em>) which I <em>cooked in vegetable broth&#8230; </em>it really brought out the flavor. <em> </em></p>

<p>The rest of the morning was spent preparing for an interview.  I went into the city an hour and a half early so, <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/11/13/sweet-coconut-nights/">subway problems</a> or not, there&#8217;d be no chance of being late.  I had so much spare time that I went into a deli to go over my notes and read some Canadian snail mail.  To secure a seat, I bought some <strong>fruit salad</strong>.</p>

<p>The <strong>Lindt</strong> store on 5th  was handing out <strong>holiday truffles</strong> on the street today, so I snatched one up and had it for dessert.</p>

<p>My body must have needed sleep because I nodded right off after lunch! Today is the fourth consecutive day I&#8217;ve gotten up significantly earlier than I&#8217;m used to, and the rest of the week will be no different.  Hopefully in the next few weeks there will be more early mornings and regular hours, if you catch my drift! When I woke up, I made some <strong>coffee</strong> and snacked on these <strong>Jalepeño Honey Mustard Pretzel Sticks</strong> from <a href="http://www.kaysnaturals.com/">Kay&#8217;s Naturals</a>.</p>

<p>These are my favorite of the Kay&#8217;s products I&#8217;ve tried; they&#8217;re satisfying, and didn&#8217;t leave me with horrible garlic breath the way the <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/10/27/five-minutes-or-less/">protein</a> <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/09/18/the-big-6/">chips</a> <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/10/03/22/">did</a>.</p>

<p>The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent working.  When it was getting close to dinner time, I simmered and marinated some <strong>tempeh</strong> using the recipe for <strong>Hot Sauce-Glazed Tempeh</strong> from <em>Veganomicon</em>.</p>

<p>A reuben sandwich is <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reuben_sandwich">traditionally</a> made with corned beef, Swiss cheese, saurkraut, and creamy salad dressing.  I don&#8217;t remember eating one even when I <em>did </em>eat meat, but my version is much more appealing to me.  It&#8217;s based on one of my all-time favorite sandwiches: grilled cheddar with Granny Smith apple slices on Peppridge Farm Cinnamon Raisin Swirl bread.  Tonight, I went a step further&#8230;</p>

<p>Luckily I had the foresight to plan my dessert early in the day; I had two bananas sitting in the freezer and  waiting  to be processed into <a href="http://www.choosingraw.com/because-its-the-weekend/"><strong>Chocolate Banana Soft Serve</strong></a>.  Three words: Move over, Stögo! I topped mine with roasted almonds and walnuts.</p>

<p>I can&#8217;t wait to play around with this! There are so many options based on what&#8217;s in the pantry alone.</p>
<p>After dinner I finished my reading, and just as I was about to e-mail my notes to myself (I type everything out on my Blackberry&#8230; it&#8217;s an odd habit), the memo deleted itself.  I searched IT message boards, asked people I knew with Blackberries if there was any way to retrieve data that wasn&#8217;t backed up on a computer&#8230; nothing.  Seven hours of work has been LOST.   So&#8230; tomorrow will be another early morning.  It&#8217;s not the end of the world.</p>

It works nicely when I&#8217;m trying to be productive, but I think I prefer eating three times a day, plus snacks.  <strong>Do you eat three meals or snack throughout the day?</strong></p>

<p>I thought I was going to wait until tomorrow to share this with you, but today my physical therapist gave me the okay to run.  With the exception of the two minutes I ran on the treadmill during <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/10/29/the-mysterious-squash/">my first therapy session</a>, I haven&#8217;t really run since I hurt my knee during my <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/10/12/bed-stuy-restoration-corp-10k-race-re-cap/">10K race</a>.  My therapist only let me run for 15 minutes, but it felt great! I didn&#8217;t feel any pain in my knee, and felt proud that I had followed the doctor&#8217;s and therapist&#8217;s orders to stay off my legs until the time was right.  But baby, I&#8217;m back!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p id="top" />Good morning and happy Friday! <strong> Are everyone&#8217;s Halloween plans cemented?  I&#8217;d love to hear what you&#8217;re all doing!  Dressing up? Going to a party?</strong> Last year my roommate and I had a <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.blogspot.com/2008/10/operation-detox.html">party</a>, and even though I hopped around on crutches the whole time, it was a lot of fun! The year before was my first year having real trick-or-treaters, and it was so much fun! I lived on &#8220;Halloween Street,&#8221; and over 700 kids came by that night.  We had to make multiple trips to the grocery store, and even gave away some of our own treats!  I grew up living in an apartment, and while some kids do go trick-or-treating in apartment buildings (I used to go to a really big building, and always came home with a <em>lot</em> of candy!), ours never had too many kids so no one came by.</p>
<p>Yesterday when I woke up I was craving cereal.   Cold and filling, I made a big bowl with <strong>Kashi GoLean, Smart Start, granola, a banana, and skim milk</strong>.</p>

<p>I didn&#8217;t have too much time to waste in the morning because I had physical therapy at 1:30, but I got some things done.   I broke for a quick and easy lunch: leftover<a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/10/29/the-mysterious-squash/"> <strong>Roasted Corn Pudding in Kabocha Squash</strong></a><strong>, a grapefruit, and Trader Joe&#8217;s Nonfat Vanilla Greek Yogurt. </strong>It was a little random, but it hit the spot.</p>

<p>My appointment went well! Allison gave me a few exercises that I can do on my own while I&#8217;m in bed, and as a result, my side glutes have been <em>so </em>sore the past two days!  The foam roller feels unbelievable.   She wants me to wait until next week to try running; in the meantime I can use the elliptical (which I am brainwashing myself into &#8220;liking&#8221;).  My next appointment isn&#8217;t until Tuesday, so I have some time to work on the moves.</p>

<p>At the gym, I stretched, climbed onto the<strong> Cross Ramp</strong>, cranked up the Gaga, and pounded away for 30 minutes.  I like the Cross Ramp more than the elliptical because, judging from the statistics on my heart rate monitor, it&#8217;s almost as &#8220;efficient&#8221; as running and about twice as efficient as the recumbent bike.   I cheated a little and started my <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.com/2009/10/28/two-apples-a-day/">cool down</a> after 27 minutes&#8230; it&#8217;s entirely psychological, but I really hate staying on that thing after my time is up! I went uptown, showered, and rolled out on my dad&#8217;s <strong>foam roller</strong>.  I&#8217;m going to be near Paragon today so I&#8217;ll pick up my own; Allison wants me to use it not only to loosen my muscles but for balancing ab exercises.</p>
<p>I snacked on a Jonagold apple from the orchard upstate&#8230; I used the honeybear for scaling purposes.  Hugely delicious!</p>

<p>My mom and I went to a reading last night at <a href="http://centerforfiction.org/">The Center for Fiction</a> (formerly known as <a href="http://centerforfiction.org/about/">The Mercantile Library</a>).  It&#8217;s a really nice space; the first floor is a great bookstore, and the second houses a membership library and readings.  If it wasn&#8217;t so out of the way, I would certainly join! I love going to the library; as soon as I finish the book I&#8217;m reading now, I&#8217;m going to check out some new titles at the <a href="http://nypl.org/">NYPL</a>.  Now, if only there were a lending library for clothes&#8230;</p>
<p>My dad made us a delicious dinner last night based around salmon steaks he picked up at <a href="http://www.davidbouley.com/">Bouley Market</a>.  The fish is the same that is served in his restaurants, but he sells it to go at a really great price.  Good to know! Maybe I can upgrade from my Trader Joe&#8217;s frozen salmon patties&#8230;</p>

<p>I went to the cafeteria for lunch today. The had <strong>big soft pretzels</strong>; even though these are on every street corner in New York, I never really crave or eat them! Ever since <a href="http://graduatemeghann.com/">Meghann</a>, <a href="http://eatliverun.com">Jenna</a>, and <a href="http://healthytippingpoint.com">Caitlin</a> have been raving about their Greenwise pretzels, though, I&#8217;ve been craving them.</p>

<p>I made a<strong> salad with spinach, carrots, cukes, cauliflower, celery, and a jalepeño</strong>.  They had <strong>dijon</strong> (my favorite mustard) for the pretzels, so I made a delicious <strong>mustard/lemon juice/olive oil vinaigrette</strong>.</p>

<p>I first read about<strong> black bean brownies </strong>in <a href="http://www.hungry-girl.com/">Hungry-Girl</a> a few years ago. After seeing <a href="http://ohsheglows.com/">Angela&#8217;s</a> batches <a href="http://ohsheglows.com/2009/04/10/from-sugar-high-to-runners-high/">a few weeks ago</a> and <a href="http://happyherbivore.com">Lindsay&#8217;s</a> yesterday, I decided to try them myself.</p>

<p>I used the Happy Herbivore <a href="http://happyherbivore.com/2009/05/vegan-blackbean-brownies/">recipe</a>, and followed her directions with the exception of swapping brown rice syrup for agave nectar.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.fitnessista.com/">Gina</a> has been raving about <strong>quiche</strong> recently, so I decided to whip one up.  I used the same <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Magicians-Assistant-Ann-Patchett/dp/0156006219/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1241793919&amp;sr=8-1">original recipe</a> that <a href="http://www.fitnessista.com/2009/04/quiche-to-my-heart.html">she did</a>, but also made my own substitutions.  For the cheese and dairy, I used 1/2 cup manchego, 3/4 cup nonfat cottage cheese, 1 cup nonfat yogurt, and 2 tbsp 4-cheese blend; for the spices, pinches each of nutmeg, cumin and cayenne.  The color was a little too light, so I added 1/2-1 cup broccoli florets to the mix.</p>

<p>Well hello! I hope you&#8217;ve had a marvelous day.  Mine was pretty good, thanks&#8230; the morning and early afternoon were spent in the library, before I broke for lunch.</p>
<p>We had <strong>tacos</strong> again for lunch&#8230; I think this just happened a week or so ago&#8230; or maybe my brain is just fried.  Anyway, I had <strong>refried beans, ground tofu, yellow rice, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa and a little cheese</strong>.</p>

<p>I went back to the library to finish my edits and handed in my English capstone- almost two hours early!  Even though I still have another paper and a review to write, I was so happy and proud to be finished that I decided to take the rest of the day off and just enjoy life. (Did I mention that I get shmaltzy when I&#8217;m not stressed? Bring on the corn&#8230;)</p>
<p>I did some non-academic reading on the grass (and even got a little pink strip of sunburn!) and had a <strong>grapefruit</strong>.</p>

<p>Believe me when I say: <strong>this was one of the best salads I have <em>ever</em> had</strong>. The star was broiled coconut shrimp, which made the meal feel really indulgent, despite how healthy it was.</p>
<p><strong>Sweet and spicy coconut shrimp</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>3 tsp light coconut milk</li>
<li>1 tsp brown rice syrup</li>
</ul>
<p>I use brown rice syrup as an alternative to agave when I bake <a href="../sweet-treats/">vegan treats</a>; it has a milder taste than honey.</p>

<li>pinch chili flakes</li>

<li>6 frozen shrimp, thawed with tails removed</li>
<li>1 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut</li>
</ul>
<p>Combine all ingredients in a broiler-ready pan.  Toss shrimp in, coating them nicely and coat them in coconut.</p>

<p>Return shrimp to pan and broil for about 5 minutes, flipping once about halfway.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, I toasted some <strong>hazelnuts</strong> at 400˚ for 7 minutes.</p>

<p>I then used the back of a big knife to crush the toasted nuts and make a delicious <strong>dressing</strong>.  <strong>I combined the leftover</strong><strong> shrimp/coconut mixture</strong> (I saved the extra bit in the bowl)<strong> with hazelnuts with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. </strong></p>

<p>This was the <em>perfect</em> meal.  There were so many tastes (sweet, salty, toasty) and textures (crispy, crunchy, chewy) that came together really well.  The <a href="http://www.wine.com/V6/Robert-Mondavi-Fume-Blanc-2005/wine/88547/detail.aspx">wine</a> was also some of the best I&#8217;ve ever had! I think this was my first time having <strong>Fumé Blanc</strong> (Robert Mondavi 2005) , and I became a quick fan.</p>
<p>Dinner held me over for a good two hours before I started to think about dessert.  To finish up my comfort meal, I had <strong>dried fruit</strong> (apricots, dates, prunes, figs) with <strong>almond butter</strong> (my Justin&#8217;s squeeze pack experience was more pleasurable than <strong>last time</strong>) and <strong>dark chocolate</strong>.</p>

And yet, when it comes to the &#8220;vegetarian option,&#8221; with the exception of Kashi,they all seem to think this means &#8220;pasta.&#8221;  This is often a problem at restaurants and catered events, too. <p><a href="http://lilveggiepatch.wordpress.com/2009/04/03/tie-a-key-around-my-neck/">A few weeks ago</a> I blogged about <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/03/business/media/03adco.html?_r=1&amp;scp=1&amp;sq=healthy%20choice%20frozen&amp;st=cse">Healthy Choice&#8217;s reinvention of its products</a>. Although I&#8217;m skeptical of any packaged food that claims to be a full meal, I decided to give this one a try.  I&#8217;ll review each of the four components of the dinner:</p>
<p><strong>Fish</strong> (pollock): very fishy, as cheap fish often is. It was mush and overcooked, and the breading fell off as soon as I cut into it. </p>
<p><strong>Rice</strong>: mushy and overcooked, but not chewy and tender at all. </p>
<p><strong>Broccoli</strong>: definitely the best part.  It was crisp and perfectly cooked, although it was sitting in a LOT of water.</p>
<p><strong>Caramel apple crisp</strong>:  Completely inedible.  It was sweet and gelatinous, and the oat topping was mushy.  There was nothing &#8220;crisp&#8221; about this dessert whatsoever, and I threw it out after one bite. </p>
<p><strong>Would I buy this again? Not a chance. </strong><a href="http://www.healthychoice.com/">Healthy Choice</a> struck out big time with this one, and did not succeed in changing my perception of their product from the microwaved dinner my grandfather used to stockpile in his freezer  to a healthy, quick and tasty option that I would ever want to consume.  I know I&#8217;m being harsh, but I&#8217;ve come to expect a lot from these frozen meals.  I know <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.wordpress.com/2009/04/16/all-work-and-no-play-makes-jack-a-dull-boy/">it&#8217;s possible</a> to make cost-effective food that tastes good; you should be able to feel happy and satisfied with your meal even if it came out of a box in the freezer.  This is 2009, people. </p>
<p>Whew! Excuse that little rant.</p>
<p>My dinner fiasco left me feeling unsatisfied, so I had a <strong>grapefruit</strong> during class. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p id="top" />Another Earth Day has come to a close&#8230; although I was running late several times today, I left the car at home and walked the [embarrassingly short] distance to school twice.  There&#8217;s only one light on in the apartment, and all the electrical cords that aren&#8217;t in use are unplugged&#8230; the only thing I can work on is the time I take in the shower. I&#8217;m almost always between the 5- 10 minute mark.  <strong>How long does it take you to shower?</strong></p>
<p>I haven&#8217;t had a chance to get to the grocery store yet, so I went to the cafeteria to load up on veggies.  To celebrate Earth Day, my dining hall featured a lot of meat and produce that <strong>traveled less than 200 miles</strong> to get to our plates.</p>
<p>I made a big salad with <strong>romaine, spinach, red pepper, spiced corn, green pepper, cukes, carrots, diced tomato/onion</strong>, and had some <strong>stewed seitan</strong> on the side.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve been hankering for <strong>pizza</strong> lately, and was really excited when I saw they had cheeseless <strong>&#8220;tofu bruschetta&#8221;</strong> pizza.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, the pizza had absolutely no taste, so I took two bites and moved onto bigger and better things.  Good thing I did, because I made an amazing discovery: <strong>Peanut butter and jelly</strong> (not pictured) on <strong>apples</strong> is AMAZING. Seriously.  Go have one now.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s funny&#8230; I haven&#8217;t run in almost a week, but I&#8217;m really enjoying doing other forms of cardio that I used to shy away from.  Today I conquered my fear of the elliptical, which I used to find so boring that I&#8217;d get off after less than ten minutes.  Having <em>Gilmore Girls</em> to watch may have something to do with today&#8217;s elliptic-success, but it&#8217;s good to know that I can do it!</p>

They tasted just like the garlic swiss chard my mom makes.  The <strong>sweet potato</strong> was obviously good (hello, it&#8217;s a sweet potato!), but it was a nice change to have it in a <strong>whipped form</strong>. <strong>The beans</strong> were probably my least favorite, but I&#8217;ve never really been a &#8220;baked beans&#8221; girl.  Mixed with the cornbread and greens, they were pretty good. </span></p>
<p><span style="color:#800080;">This meal is pretty pricey. <strong>It cost about $4.50</strong>, and I&#8217;m pretty sure I could make a similar meal for myself (and have enough leftovers to eat several times) for that cost.  But, it was quick and easy, and the combination of foods is something I WOULD make for dinner from scratch. <strong> So yes, I would buy this again!</strong></span></p>
<p>My prof brought four different kinds of cupcakes and brownies to class today, knowing this is a pretty hard time of year.  I remembered how delicious the <strong>mini black forest cupcakes</strong> were, so I made a bee-line for them:</p>

One of the things I&#8217;m most looking forward to about the end of student life is not being shut up indoors all the time.</p>
<p>This morning I went to the library and got all set up with books, snacks (and that cute little GPS).</p>

<p>I snacked on a <strong>grapefruit</strong>, making extra careful not to squirt my neighbors.  (The library finally gave up on prohibiting food and drink, and there are not just funny little signs everywhere that say &#8220;Spills happen! Just let us know <img src='http://lilveggiepatch.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> &#8221; ).</p>

<p>I went with some friends to the<strong> Coffee Gallery</strong>, a coffee shop that&#8217;s connected to the <a href="http://www.openbookmn.org/">Open Book</a> center for book arts in Minneapolis.</p>

<p>This place is pretty much a paradise for bibliophiles&#8230; it has printmaking exhibits, bookmaking workshops, readings, performances (musical and otherwise), a [very tempting] gift shop, and a cozy little coffee shop.</p>
<p>While studying, I got a bowl of <strong>Zuppa di Pasta &amp; Fagioli</strong>, or literally &#8220;hearty bean and pasta soup.&#8221;</p>

<p>I also got a cup of <strong>African tea</strong> (with milk and sugar) and a <strong>chocolate raspberry biscotti</strong>, to make up for the <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.wordpress.com/2009/04/09/best-of-both-worlds/">biscotti fiasco</a> a few days ago.</p>

<p>This was pretty much the perfect lunch, and held me over very well.</p>

<p>It was nice to actually study with <em>other people</em> for a change, but I got a little distracted towards the end because I was 95% sure the lead singer <a href="http://theholdsteady.net/">of my favorite band in the entire world</a> (aside from <a href="http://theupwelling.com/">the Upwelling</a>, of course <img src='http://lilveggiepatch.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />  ) walked into the shop. I frantically  <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">stalked</span> looked around for him, but he disappeared.  I just looked at their tour schedule, though, and they&#8217;re in Salt Lake City today.  Oh well!</p>
<p>When I got back, I went on a halfhearted run; I didn&#8217;t want to be out for very long but I wanted to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.</p>

<p>I saw <a href="http://eatliverun.com/meh-monday/">this recipe</a> on Jenna&#8217;s blog last night and had almost the same ingredients so I decided to make a similar dish.  It&#8217;s pretty similar to the curry I made last week, but this uses tempeh instead of tofu.</p>

<p>Last week when I saw my aunt, she told me she&#8217;d been eating a lot of chocolate fro-yo with mandarin orange slices. I wanted to try it out, but bought <strong>pear halves</strong> by mistake! It was still delicious with the frozen yogurt and half of a <a href="http://lilveggiepatch.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/snacky-mcsnackerton/">No-Pudge Chunky Monkey brownie</a>.</p>
